Smilax Care

  Your Smilax will arrive in a box, with a bag filled with Smilax vines inside.

First and foremost, do not take the Smilax out of the bag until you are ready to use it. It is not easy to put back in the bag once removed! Unlike regular greenery, Smilax does not need conditioning and can last up to two weeks without a water source.

When you receive your Smilax, open the box. Then, open the bag and check the condition to ensure it did not get too hot or cold during transit. The bales (this is what we call the rolled-up Smilax) are compressed to fit in the box, so gently reach through the middle and fluff the vine inside the bag. Lightly mist it and fold over the top of the bag without sealing it. Store in a cooler or cool room, out of direct sunlight, until ready to use.

Do NOT allow the Smilax to freeze and DO NOT sit the Box or the black bag in any sunlight or it will just cook the vine. During most of the season, Smilax is hardy enough to last two weeks or more in a cooler if looked after and several days in an air-conditioned room..
